The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's mission is to empower our members to serve society by using sound medication principles and strategies to achieve positive patient outcomes.

For University of Pittsburgh chapter:
The mission of the student chapter of AMCP at the University of Pittsburgh is to make students aware of the major issues impacting managed care pharmacy and to provide them with information about career opportunities for pharmacists in managed care settings.

The University of Pittsburgh chapter of AMCP is open to any pharmacy students who are interested in exploring career opportunities in managed care or who wish to develop a better understanding of the issues that are impacting this rapidly growing area of pharmacy.    

Benefits of membership include:

1. The opportunity to participate in a shadowing program that pairs interested students with pharmacists who work in a variety of managed care settings.
2. Information regarding internship and residency opportunities in managed care pharmacy. 
3. The chance to hear talks given by managed care pharmacists.  

The opportunity to compete in the annual Pharmacy and Therapeutics competition, which enables students to gain experience in the formulary development aspect of managed care.
